Free Boiler - Attendance Allowance

If you’re in need of a new boiler and receive Attendance Allowance then there is a good chance you could qualify for a grant to help you get a boiler upgrade for your home. Households in receipt of Attendance Allowance could be eligible for free boiler grant funding under the Government’s ECO scheme.

Grants are available to eligible homeowners and private tenants if at least one person in the household is in receipt of Attendance Allowance. This could make a massive difference to the warmth and costs of heating your home, so apply today.

How does the Free Boiler Grant scheme work?

The boiler scheme helps those who are most in need get access to grants which could help them get a new boiler for free or at a fraction of the cost. The Government-backed ECO

Scheme sees the ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers – British Gas, EDF Energy, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE – meeting their obligation to provide grants for the installation of more energy efficient boilers that will help reduce energy bills and carbon footprints

The grants are available to eligible households who have a boiler that is at least seven years old and who are in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits, including Attendance Allowance. If your boiler is less than 7 years old then unfortunately you are unable to benefit from the funding/

You could be eligible for a Free Boiler Grant if the following applies to you or someone in your household …

  • Receive Attendance Allowance
  • Homeowner/private tenant (but not those in social housing)
  • Your boiler is 7+ years old

If you are accepted for a free boiler grant, we will handle everything for you on your behalf from the grant application to boiler removal, installation and aftercare, and you won’t have to pay us a thing as our fees are covered by the scheme. For many, this means you can get a new boiler for free or at a much reduced cost.

What is Attendance Allowance?

Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you are 65 or over and have a disability that requires the assistance of someone else to help look after you.

You usually get Attendance Allowance if the following apply:

  • Physically (including sensory disability, e.g blindness) or mentally disabled (including learning difficulties)
  • State Pension age or older

Attendance Allowance is paid weekly at 2 different rates depends on the level of care that you require. Some people may currently receive the lower rate of £59.70 if they require frequent help or constant supervision during the day, or the higher rate of £89.15 if they are in need of help or supervision throughout both day and night, or are terminally ill.

What benefit will you get from a new boiler?

A new boiler will lead to a much warmer energy efficient home. As a new boiler will work far more efficiently than an old one, that means that less energy will be wasted when heating your home. An A-rated boiler will have an energy efficiency in excess of 90%, meaning that the majority of fuel burned is converted to heat.

For householders who have a new boiler installed, this is going to lead to a large reduction in your heating bills. In some instances the amount you save could be more than £300 annually. This means that as well as more affordable heating, you’ll also be reducing your own carbon footprint and therefore doing your bit for the environment.
